Those who have visited or reside in Brazil may have come into contact with one exceptionally bizarre tree. Instead of growing near the leaves, the large size berries grow in abundance from the trunk, creating a trail of sorts upwards on the branches.
Anyone who spends a good deal of time outdoors knows that many trees hold wild and sometimes mysterious berries. Those who have visited or reside in Brazil may have come into contact with one exceptionally bizarre tree.
Instead of growing near the leaves, the large size berries grow in abundance from the trunk, creating a trail of sorts upwards on the branches. Adding to the seemingly strange size, the berries look just like massive purple gapes.
Officially called the Jabuticaba tree, it's commonly referred to as the Brazilian grape tree. The fruit attached to the bark on the trees is indeed edible.
That's good news for hungry nature enthusiasts and foodies alike. The Jabuticaba fruit is said to be high in antioxidants. As an added bonus, it can also be used to make wines and other types of booze.
Before the fruit makes an appearance, gorgeous white flowers grow from the bark. They sprout from the tree twice a year, at the very most.
After some time the flowers fall to the ground and in their place, tiny green berries start growing, eventually turning purple in color.
